View Inventory Project

Bangladesh

Project Managers: Tabassum Tamima and Mary E. Barkworth

The goal of this project is to develop a digital botanical infrastructure for Bangladesh. Our first step was to develop a checklist from occurrence records in GBIF on 2024-06-20 (https://doi.org/10.15468/dl.b72nyf). There were 4,448 records in the download. They came from 90 datasets published by 72 publishers located in 26 countries. We used this checklist to create two separate checklists, one for bryophytes and one for tracheophytes. We plan to add a few published checklists to these two, but our primary purpose in developing the initial checklist was to assist Bangladeshi herbaria in mobilizing their data and contributing to the development of dynamic checklists for Bangladesh's administrative divisions and encouraging development of other regional resources for the country.
