This check list is derived from  Banu-Fattah & Sarker (2007) Bryophyte flora of Greater Mymensingh District of Bangladesh - Class: Bryopsida. Greater Mymensingh includes six administrative districts: Jamalpur, Kishoreganj, Mymensingh, Netrokona, Sherpur and Tangail.In the article, the authors cite the specimens they examined in developing it. Some of the names are documented by of new collections, most of which they deposited in the herbarium of Government Ananda Mohan College, Mymensingh. Others are based on previously published reports which are cited in the article.

Making the checklist available online enables it to be integrated into other checklists for  Bangladesh such as a dynamic checklist of the bryophytes of Bangladesh and, when Bangladeshi herbaria share their records via OpenHerbaria, to the records in those herbaria.
