Locality: Sudan: northern Sudan
Abstract: Darbyshire et al. (2015) provided valuable information about the distribution of plants found in Sudan and South Sudan. Making it available on line via OpenHerbarium enables integration of the names with images and descriptions from other sources and will facilitate incorporation of databased herbarium records, making the lists easy to update. Because the checklist of Sudan is the "parent" of the checklists for the 6 regions recognized by Darbyshire et al., the names of species added to a regional list will, if not previously recorded for any of Sudan's regions. automatically be added to this checklist. In addition, educators can draw on resources in OpenHerbarium to help their students become familiar with plants in their region and focus their efforts in adding to the information available for them.
Notes: Darbyshire et al. included a few taxa that seemed to be new species. They are not included in this implementation of their checklist. The polygon used in locating additional records is very approximate.
